The CALM Conference is a great way to connect with other labour media professionals from around the country. The Conference always provides many interesting workshops for union staff who are responsible for communicating with membership – both for seasoned comms professionals as well as shop stewards and other union leadership. I look forward to attending each year.
Whether it is a case of picking up new skills and techniques or better refining those we already have in place, I leave every CALM event feeling more equipped to improve communication and engagement with our membership.
The CALM conference is not just useful to full time Labour Communicators, it is invaluable to rank and file communication folks in Locals, like myself. The content is very accessible and there is always a broad variety of skills and strategic workshops to choose from. An excellent conference, not to be missed!
A great time to reconnect and meet new Comms people - and I got elected for the first time to the Exec!
Our team makes attending the CALM conference a priority because we can update skills and meet other labour communicators to share ideas.
We always come away from a CALM conference with something new we can take back to the local.
CALM conferences and events are always such great opportunities to connect with other labour communicators across the country. It’s also a chance to learn about the tools and communications strategies that different unions and locals have employed to win campaigns and improve the lives of working people.
Whether you are a seasoned union communications professional or a casual volunteer for your local, attending a CALM Conference is a rewarding and beneficial experience. The opportunity to hear from and interact with communication specialists from across Canada's labour movement, and understanding the challenges they face in their work, is invaluable as we strive towards our shared goal of supporting and strengthening workers' rights in our own unions and our society as a whole.
This was my first time attending, I enjoyed the whole conference. I found it very informative. This will help me reach the members, I would recommend this conference to anyone who needs to reach their members
The CALM convention is the single best opportunity each year to exchange ideas with other communicators. The workshops provide of the moment education. The networking allows you to problem-solve communications issues in a safe space with other trusted leaders in the space. And the organizers are top notch!
The annual CALM Conference is the best event for union members and communications staff to learn, network, and share their own good work with activists from across Canada.
Over the past decade I have found CALM conferences and mini-conferences to have been consistently useful, and also to help build solidarity and a good list of union communications contacts. Highly recommended.
The conference was incredibly motivating and educational. I met a ton of amazing people who are committed to improving the lives of working class people. I can't wait to get back home and continue organizing!
CALM conference was eye-opening for new union communicators and old. As someone who has never been to a conference like this, I was pleasantly surprised by the energy, positive vibes, and overall representation from many across the country.
