Workshop info and bio

After spending six years at a market research firm, Tasia Brown found a home in the labour movement in 2011 at the Public Service Alliance of Canada. Tasia worked in PSAC’s labour education and human rights departments before becoming a national Communications Officer in 2015. Since then, she has worked on national campaigns demanding domestic violence leave, better pensions for civil firefighters, support for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and to bring an end to the Phoenix payroll disaster.

Both a community activist and entrepreneurial-minded, she is a co-founder of The Rise Initiative, a non-profit focused on creating social transformation at the local level by empowering diverse women and youth to become leaders in business and their communities. Tasia holds an Honours BSocSc in Political Science & Sociology from the University of Ottawa, and a Non-Profit Management certificate in Fundraising, Government Relations and Strategic Planning from George Brown College.

Tasia has been a member of the CALM Executive Board since 2017.
