Workshop: Using Canva to make great social media and web designs

Canva makes it easy for anyone to make posters, and designs for either web or print publications. This session will teach you the basics, and make sure you know how to improve your union’s design work with eye-catching images that pop!

Explore strategies to foster seamless collaboration between organizers and communicators in our workshop, ‘Bridging the Organizer/Communicator Divide,’ where we delve into effective communication techniques for cohesive teamwork and impactful messaging.

Chelsea Connor has served as the Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) in the United States since 2017 and has led the communications strategy on the union’s campaigns at Amazon, REI, General Mills, and the union’s COVID-19 response among others. Chelsea also serves as the President of CALM’s sister organization; the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA). Chelsea joined the labor movement after completing a two-year contract with the Government of Canada and with Global Affairs Canada working in Ottawa and New York. In that capacity, Chelsea served as a spokeswoman under two Canadian Prime Ministers (PM Harper & PM Trudeau) and was responsible for the strategic communications planning and execution for the Government of Canada through the transition of governments, and its portfolio of digital, advocacy, diplomatic, technology, energy, trade and foreign relations work. Throughout the years Chelsea has often returned to NBC News where she started her career, serving as a political producer & researcher for Tom Brokaw on NBC News’ “Decision 2016”, “Decision 2012” and on “Decision 2008” as part of the Emmy Award-winning election night broadcast team. A Brooklyn, New York native, Chelsea is a graduate of F. H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts and holds a B.F.A from New York University and a M.A. from Fordham University in Elections and Campaign Management.
